Transition to Wellness Workshops

Course Overview

Transition to Wellness

This series of workshops is all about recovering your emotional confidence as you start to physically recover from serious illness or are living with chronic illness.

When you are being treated for a serious illness, your whole life revolves around doctors, tests, treatments and side effects. Along the way you lose connection to your body as every part of it is poked, prodded, tested and operated on. Everyone, even strangers, treat you as a patient in crisis.

You need people’s help, but sometimes they mistake helping you for telling you what to do. Plus, sometimes the most helpful people are the least helpful around your raw emotions.

When you are finally on the road to physical recovery,  you start to return to ‘normal’ life. However, you need to regain your emotional confidence. As you feel physically  better a lot of emotions can rise to the surface; grief, loss, relief and excitement. New questions arise:

What happened to my life?’

What do I want now?

What needs to change in my relationships?

How do I manage a transition back to work, without feeling like I need to please everyone else?

.

What you will Learn

Practical Strategies

This course helps you understand and integrate your emotional experiences. You will gain practical strategies for:

  • Understanding what has really happened for you, and what is important now.
  • Re-establishing healthy boundaries in your personal relationships.
  • Starting to enjoy some social activities while prioritising your own self-care.
  • Managing return to work arrangements

October Wellness workshop

Reclaim your Voice

When you have been very unwell, and managing treatment you don’t have a lot of capacity to manage all your relationships as well.

As you start to feel physically better you realise you have lost your voice and sense of power in many areas of your life.

This workshop is about how to get back to you:

How to say what you want, not just what you need.

Transition from ‘patient’ in your relationships to equal partner.

Stop apologising for how you feel and re-establish your confidence.

In this highly personalised format, you will have the opportunity to learn directly from Michelle’s experience as well as personal practices to take home.
